Peridot, the birthstone for August, is a vibrant green gemstone known for its fresh, olive to lime-green hues. Unlike many other gemstones, peridot is only found in one color—green—though its shade can vary based on iron content. Formed deep within the Earth’s mantle and sometimes delivered to the surface by volcanoes, it’s also been discovered in meteorites. Arizona is one of the worlds largest producers but it is also found more locally in Mortlake, Victoria.
